Research Fellow in transcriptomic regulation of RNA processing in cancer

We are seeking a highly motivated and creative Research Fellow to investigate the epitranscriptomic regulation of RNA processing in cancer. The successful candidate will join the Cancer Genomics and Bioinformatics (CGB) Unit, led by Prof. Matteo Cereda, and will be embedded in a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. The Italian Institute for Genomic Medicine provides outstanding research opportunities, with access to state-of-the-art technologies and core facilities.
Research Focus. The CGB unit studies the regulation of alternative splicing in cancer, with particular emphasis on the role of RNA-binding proteins (RBPs). Our research aims to achieve a comprehensive molecular characterization of RNA processing regulation in both adult and pediatric tumors. To this end, we integrate genomic, transcriptomic, and epigenetic high-throughput approaches with big data analytics. We leverage both second- and third-generation sequencing technologies to uncover oncogenic RNA processing programs, with the goal of informing personalized therapies and contributing to the development of novel RNA-based cancer treatments.
Role. The Research Fellow will be responsible for studying the transcriptional regulation of RNA processing in KRAS mutated lung tumors. The project will combine computational biology approaches with next-generation sequencing (NGS) experiments to investigate dysregulation of RNA processing and identify novel therapeutic targets suitable for RNA-based interventions.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in bioinformatics.
- Proven experience in spatial Visium HD transcriptomics.
- Proven experience with RNA regulatory elements.
- Prior experience with NGS technologies is highly desirable.
- Track record of research reporting, including oral presentations and contributions to peer-reviewed publications.
- Fluency in English (spoken and written).
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Commitment to advancing oncological research.
