A vegan diet signature from a multi-omics study on different European populations is related to favorable metabolic outcomes

Can diet leave a measurable molecular signature in our bodies?

A new study by IIGM researchers, led by Dr. Alessio Naccarati and published in Gut Microbes, in collaboration with Giulio Ferrero (University of Turin) and a group of researchers from the Czech Republic (led by Prof. Monika Cahová) shows that a vegan diet is associated with a distinct, country-independent multi-omics signature.
By integrating gut microbiome, metabolomic and lipidomic data from healthy Italian and Czech individuals, the study highlights molecular and microbial profiles linked to favorable cardiometabolic health.
A clear example of how omics technologies help unravel the relationship between diet and health.

Congratulations to the entire research team on this important achievement and successful international collaboration!
